Title: Joint Understanding: Myofunctional Therapy’s Role in TMJ Health

Description:

This comprehensive lecture aims to provide beginner-level insights into the profound impact of myofunctional therapy on TMJ function, pain relief, and overall joint health. We'll delve into the remediation of compensatory patterns in joint use, emphasizing the role of myofunctional therapy in eliminating detrimental habits such as mouth breathing—a significant contributor to structural breakdown in the TMJ. A common occurrence in the dental clinic, attendees will be presented with the ideal cases for incorporating myofunctional therapy, especially when parafunctional habits are present. Through an exploration of misconceptions and collaborative care attendees will be equipped to make informed referrals to myofunctional therapists and integrate this specialty into their dental practice, enhancing overall patient outcomes.
